The best advice I ever got – Hire a Coach
The advice that sticks out I got from John Doerr, who in 2001 said, “My advice to you is to have a coach.” I initially resented the advice, because after all, I was a CEO. I was pretty experienced. Why would I need a coach? Am I doing something wrong? My argument was, how could a coach advise me if I’m the best person in the world at this? But that’s not what a coach does. The coach doesn’t have to play the sport as well as you do. They have to watch you and get you to be your best. In the business context a coach is not a repetitious coach. A coach is somebody who looks at something with another set of eyes, describes it to you in [his] words, and discusses how to approach the problem.
Once I realized I could trust him and that he could help me with perspective, I decided this was a great idea. When there is [a] business conflict you tend to get rat-holed into it. The general advice has been to rise one step higher, above the person on the other side of the table, and to take the long view. He’ll say, “You’re letting it bother you. Don’t.”

As the pace in the world of business increases and becomes more and more competitive, it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with changes in your industry, let alone the latest innovations in sales, marketing, and management strategies. Clearly you can survive in business without the help of a coach, but it´s almost impossible to reach your maximum potential!
I do not sign clients to long-term contracts; I simply work with clients month to month for as long as they find value in our work together. Each month I typically meet with clients for 4 sessions, either in person or by phone, and I am available between sessions by phone and email for questions or as issues arise. I also include several assessments at no additional cost to provide an understanding of your own behaviors and how to best work effectively with other types of people. My coaching is individually tailored to your interests and needs, not a packaged program that applies to everyone. I do not charge for an initial consultation and then set a plan and a fee structure based on your needs.
Your investment will depend on the size of your business and the scope of our undertaking together. We will work this out with you so it´s appropriate for your business and the goals and challenges you are committed to. You´ll find it´s just like having a marketing manager, sales team leader, trainer, recruitment specialist, and a corporate consultant, all for one nominal investment.
